Do you create?

The iPad 2 is great for creating multimedia, art, drawing and editing photos but has no no USB jack, file manager or any SD or microSD so won’t help with productivity.

It seems the Sony Walkman has come to the end of its shelf life. The Walkman will be remembered as the contraption which transformed listening to music from an activity conducted in one’s own living room to a means of irritating other people on the bus. No more carrying a supply of cassettes around with you, MP3’s are taking over. The Sony Walkman first hit our shelves in 1979; an astonishing 220 million were sold. So goodbye to buying in bulk, batteries to power the little cassette working beauty and the bulk pack of blank tapes. Hello pocket sized MP3.

Spotify deny rumours

It has been in the news recently that Spotify was going to sell off the business to Apple. Today it has now been announced that there is truth in the rumours- Spotify has no intention at all to sell. Only recently have they launched major changes to move toward social networking, users can now share and swap music tracks as well as being able to see what their friends are listening to. Friends can be imported from Facebook and their songs from iTunes. Spotify is available across most parts of Europe but hasn’t launched yet in the United States.

IPhone 5

There has been a lot of rumors and speculation surrounding the IPhone 5 which has not yet been released. This handset is said it will include an integrated SIM card. This be to allow Apple to assign networks to individual handsets at the customer’s request. This SIM card is to come in the form of an integrated chip which will carry subscriber identification information, ultimately seeing the end of those little plastic cards that are currently issued directly from network service providers. The release date for the IPhone 5 is June 2011. This integrated chip is aimed to save customers time when they purchase their phone, not having to wait or contact the service provider to activate the phone.

It seems that after a long four-year legal battle with the United States music industry, LimeWire one of the world’s most popular file sharing websites has been shut down. New York federal court issues a permanent injunction against LimeWire, Stating that the website caused a massive scale of infringement, by permitting people to share thousands of copyrighted works, by its massive 50 million monthly users. LimeWire is now restricted from allowing searching and the sharing of copyrighted material. Due to LimeWire being a massive sharing site music sales fell to $7.7bn in 2009 from a staggering $14.5bn in 1999.

3D ready tv starting to show up

After the tempest of HD tv of the last few years it is time that something stood up to the challenge. The new hit is the 3D side of the tv. After the massive success of blockbuster Avatar, in 3D people are starting to consider watching movies in 3D. More are coming soon, like Alice in Wonderland, and like it or not 3D is the next big thing we will want.

Samsung as already started to ship 3D ready tv and you can buy your from amazon right now. It is not cheap and will probably improve massively over the next few months/years.

So..which one I am gonna pick…

New NEC computer monitor

NEC as a tradition of good quality product and this new display is not going to change that. The MultiSync EA231WMi is a 23 inches flat panel screen, full HD please and 1920×1080. Mind you it is not a cheap product, at £300 ish but is can compete with higher end monitors like dell’s and HP’s.

The sound aesthetic makes it a decent piece of kit, nothing fancy but nice simple design and solid build quality. The down side is the lack of hdmi port which restrain it to a computing use rather than multimedia like some can do nowadays.

Sony Dash touch friend

Sony’s new tablet ish product, called dash, is quite a looker. The 7 ” touch screen box is you next internet companion, or so they say. But what is inside is actually interesting and we wouldn’t mind having one next to our bed, or in the kitchen.

The Dash is packed with over 1500 apps it can use over you WiFi home connection to stream media, websites, and other news feeds.

It should be released for less than $200 which is a very good price considering it is Sony after all.

In the new tablet like market it is good to see more and more options offered to us the consumer, so bring it on!
